In 2016, Johan "Stompie" Meyer bought a farm high on the Piketberg Mountain to establish his new winemaking endeavour, Platteklip Vineyards. After years of making wine in some of South Africa’s leading appellations such as Elgin, Hemel-en-Aarde and the Swartland, he saw an opportunity in Piket-Bo-Berg to craft top-quality wine in a high altitude and cool climate.‍

The vision is simple: to craft estate-driven wines while overseeing every step of the winemaking process. Thanks to the distinct environment, he works with a diverse range of vines:  Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the cooler southern slopes and Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Chenin Blanc from the warmer, northern side.

Current releases are the Elgin Chardonnay, Elgin Pinot Noir and Cape South Coast Pinot Noir
